Robert Williams is an owner/Director at Family Law Partners and specialises in family law. He is a Collaborative Lawyer, Deputy District Judge, Family Law Arbitrator, a member of Resolution (First for Family Law) and a Resolution Accredited Specialist (Ancillary Relief and Emergency Procedures).
Robert specialises in finances following a relationship breakdown, whether by separation, divorce, or dissolution of civil partnership. His preferred method of resolving cases is through a team approach, using the collaborative model with assistance from a neutral Family Consultant and/or Financial Neutral. Robert comments “by involving a team, it ensures clients are fully supported with the right expertise depending on their needs and not, as was traditionally the case, the lawyers”.
Chambers 2015 says he is “recognised for his ‘great foresight and phenomenal experience across the board in matrimonial cases,’ and focuses on financial disputes. Clients note that ‘he is practical and his advice always has a clarity about it …he has a very clever way of getting into the issues and understanding the problems.”
Chambers UK 2014 said “Robert handles a variety of high-stakes matrimonial finance disputes. Clients appreciate his support and advice, with one commenting that ‘he’s been excellent in terms of his willingness to give time to provide explanation of the legal process’.”
Robert sits as a Deputy District Judge on the South Eastern Circuit in the County Court and Family Court. He has been appointed by the President of the Family Division to deal with private law children cases. He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Robert qualified as a solicitor in 1994 with First Class Honours.
Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family and dogs, walking on the Sussex Downs, watching United, playing golf and meditation.
